A Family Guide to Visiting Seoul with Kids
Seoul might seem like a fast-paced business and nightlife hub, but it is remarkably accommodating for families. With incredibly safe streets, clean public transit, and a massive number of parks and interactive museums, Seoul is an fantastic destination for children of all ages.
1. Lotte World Theme Park
Lotte World is an absolute must-do if you have children. It holds the Guinness World Record for the largest indoor theme park, meaning it’s a perfect destination year-round, regardless of rain, snow, or extreme heat. It also has an outdoor "Magic Island" section linked via monorail. From gentle carousels for toddlers to high-speed roller coasters for teens, it covers all bases.
2. Children’s Grand Park (Seoul Children's Park)
This massive, free-entry park in Gwangjin-gu is a paradise for families. It features a zoo, a botanical garden, massive playgrounds, and a small amusement park. In the spring, it is one of the best places in the city to view cherry blossoms without the crushing crowds of Yeouido.

Practical Tips for Parents in Seoul
- Strollers on Transit: While all major subway stations have elevators, they can sometimes be difficult to find or require walking long distances underground. A lightweight, foldable travel stroller is highly recommended.
- Nursing Rooms: Department stores (Lotte, Shinsegae, Hyundai) have world-class "Nursing Lounges" or "Baby Lounges" (수유실). They provide private feeding rooms, high-end diaper changing stations, bottle sanitizers, and even microwaves for baby food.
- Kid-Friendly Dining: Korean BBQ restaurants are fun but can be dangerous for toddlers due to open grills. Look for "Kalguksu" (noodle soup) or "Donkatsu" (pork cutlet) restaurants, which are universally loved by kids and extremely safe.
